About Mindful Connection

Alexandra Ludlam
Certified Education Consultant & Teacher
Hi, I'm Alexandra, and I believe that every child deserves the chance to learn in a way that feels natural, engaging, and pressure-free.

For over 20 years, I’ve worked with children and young people aged 2 to 18 across a range of settings—from early years to specialist autism provision—always with the same goal: to create meaningful learning experiences tailored to the unique needs of each child.

My understanding of autism is both professional and deeply personal. As a parent to two wonderful children, both diagnosed with autism, I’ve navigated the complexities of support systems, education, and advocacy first-hand. Like many parents, I initially felt lost and overwhelmed, trying to find the right help for my children in a system that often feels impersonal and difficult to access. This experience shaped my approach to education, reinforcing my belief that children learn best when they feel understood, supported, and valued—not just as students, but as individuals.
My Philosophy
Much of my work has been in specialist education, where I’ve supported children with autism and other developmental differences. My approach is deeply influenced by Relationship Development Intervention (RDI), which emphasises social connection and cognitive growth. The ethos of RDI continues to inform my work, shaping the way I build relationships and create environments that foster confidence, independence, and meaningful learning.
My experience also includes education in mainstream settings, where I championed strong connections between families and schools. I’ve always believed that no one understands a child better than their caregivers and that learning is most successful when built on a foundation of trust, collaboration, and individualised support.
This belief was central to my work as Person in Charge at a nursery assessment centre under Children's Social Care, where I supported 2- and 3-year-olds with developmental delays or statements of need. Many of these children were undergoing assessments for autism or additional support, and my role involved creating a structured, child-centred environment that allowed them to thrive. I worked alongside local authorities and tribunal panels to ensure that each child received the right support at the right time, advocating for tailored provision to meet their individual needs.
Why Mindful Connection?
Now, through Mindful Connection, I bring my expertise and passion to children who cannot access traditional school environments. I believe that education should be enjoyable, free from unnecessary pressure, and adapted to each child's unique way of learning. Whether a child experiences anxiety around learning, struggles with social communication, or simply thrives better in a home setting, my goal is to ensure they have the same opportunities as their peers in school.
At Mindful Connection, learning is not just about meeting academic targets—it’s about building confidence, fostering independence, and creating positive, meaningful experiences. Every child deserves the right to learn in a way that works for them, and I am committed to making that possible.
Education Consultancy
For many children, mainstream education doesn’t always provide the right fit. Whether due to neurodiversity, anxiety, school avoidance, or personal learning preferences, some children thrive best in a home-based environment. Our Bespoke Learning Boxes are designed to provide structured, engaging, and personalised education for children learning outside of school, ensuring they receive 10 hours of quality education every week.

Each box is carefully curated to match your child’s interests, abilities, and learning needs. With a mix of hands-on activities, engaging lessons, and interactive resources, we create a learning experience that is fun, effective, and tailored to each individual child. Our goal is to help children stay engaged with education, build confidence in their abilities, and develop a love for learning—without the stress of a traditional classroom.
